Blog Updates (Contact Me Page + Disqus)…

I made a couple changes to this blog…

First, I added a Contact Me page someone mentioned that I did not have my email address here… oops… so now I can be contacted via the new Contact Me page.

Secondly, I switched the commenting system to Disqus, which I believe has more features than the built in WordPress commenting system. I’ll evaluate it and see how I like it.

New Folia Journal Feature…

I’m introducing a new feature on my blog that will allow you to see the history of a particular plant. When I mention a plant on my blog like my Cerinthe ‘Purple Bells’ Folia, I’ll place a yellow Folia leaf image (like the one above) that will link to the journal page of that particular plant on Folia’s website… so if you are curious about a particular plant or just want to know more about it, you can see that plants journal on Folia.

I’m tracking my garden:
MyFolia.com - Organise, track & share your gardening adventures!

Folia is a free online social garden organiser website that I use to track my plants and gardens.

New Theme + Helvetica Neue Light…

A few days ago, I changed my blog theme from the simpleX theme to the Twenty Ten theme. I like Twenty Ten because it’s clean, simple and I noticed it had a photographic header graphic, which can be customized, so I made one added using some of my photos:

I customized the fonts using Georgia Bold Italic for the subheads and Helvetica for the body text. I wanted to use Helvetica Neue Light but not matter what code I changed in the four CSS files, I couldn’t get it to change… Until I read the article Helvetica Neue Light on blog.gesteves.com.

Apparently, I was using the incorrect font name. I was using “Helvetica Neue Light” instead of “HelveticaNeue-Light”… so now it works :)

Hello World… New Blog (Again)

So I’m giving WordPress another try… but this time my friend Bill installed it to my joelignacio.com site, instead of using the wordpress.com site, which I abandoned some time ago. They were charging to upgrade to customize CSS styles and for no-ads.
