I sowed a few seeds:
– Kale ‘Dinosaur’
– Kale ‘White Russian’
– Kale ‘Dwarf Blue Curled’
– Bok Choi ‘Joi Choi’
– Mustard ‘Miike Purple Giant’
– Swiss Chard ‘Bright LIghts’
– Swiss Chard ‘Fordhook Giant’
– Cilantro
– Fennel
I sowed more Winter Veggies into Jiffy Peat Pellets (4 each):
– Flowering Kale
– Bok Choy ‘Joi Choi’ (2010-2011 Batch 2)
– Mustard ‘Broad Leaf’
– Misome
I also sowed some Lettuce and Mesclun into cell-packs with vermiculite:
– Lettuce ‘Mightly Red Oak’
– Lettuce ‘Marvel of Four Seasons’
– Lettuce ‘Prizehead’
– Mesclun ‘Zesty Salad Mix’
A few weeks ago, I left some dried Agrostemma seedheads outside and forgot to collect the seeds. With our recent rain, they got wet and started to germinate, so I took some of the sprouts and planted them in 4″ pots.
I planted more seeds into Jiffy Peat Pellets (4 each):
– Swiss Chard ‘Green Lucullus’
– Kale ‘Red Russian’ (G2/2010) – Seeds collected from this year’s plants
– Cilantro/Coriander (G2/2010) – Seeds collected from this year’s plants
– Kailaan ‘Blue Star’ (Chinese Kale/Chinese Broccoli)
– Spinach ‘Bloomsdale Savoy’
– Spinach ‘Correnta Hybrid’
I read that Spinach and Cilantro can be grown in the fall/winter/spring in free-free zones, so I’m going to try to grow them this fall/winter and see how well they do. I always though these two were summer plants.
Just a few days after sowing, the Dinosaur and White Russian Kales are sprouting.
I also found some Super Sugar Snap Peas seeds as wells as Sweet Pea ‘Early Gigantea Mixed Colors’ seeds as OSH in El Cerrito.
I soaked 16 Snap Peas and 12 Sweet Peas seeds in water and will plant them out either Monday or Tuesday.
I found a packet of 100+ Lithops seeds and I don’t remember where or when I purchased these, but it must have been between 2008-2009.
I planted all the seeds and there must have been 200+. Hopefully, they’ll grow. I haven’t been successful growing Lithops to maturity.
