Seventh Generation Renews Photo License…

Just got a call from Seventh Generation. They want to use one of my photos in product package for one more year!

I finally found the laundry detergent that has one of my photos on it!!!!

Here’s the original photo:

Eye-Fi Pro X2

When I purchased my Canon EOS 60D. I just splurged and decided to get a new Eye-Fi card with it. It’s a bit pricey, but I thought it would be worth it, because it automatically uploads the photos from my camera to my computer once it detects our WiFi network (and any other WiFi network I set the card up with).

It also geotags the photos, although I’m not sure how accurate it is. So far the geotagging info has been pretty accurate.

In addition to all that, the Eye-Fi software can upload the photos to various sharing site. In my case, the photos are uploaded to a private folder on my Flickr account.

The Start of My First “Real” Knitting Project…

I started a “real” knitting project a few days ago… and I saw “real” because this is my first project that’s actually going to be something other than a swatch or test.

A couple weeks ago, I wanted to make a cap for a friend’s baby’s birthday, but I didn’t know where to start. I searched online for baby caps… and I found one I liked called “Tri-Peak Hat” on Ravelry. By the time I finished researching and re-learning the basic stitches, it was already too close to her birthday and I wouldn’t get it done on time. Then I learned at her party that she doesn’t like hats, so I abandoned the project…

But I wanted to make one for myself, so I took out the double-pointed needles (and with the aid of numerous videos on YouTube) got started.

First "Real" Knitting Project

Oh my gosh… it was tougher than I thought. It took me almost an hour just to cast on the stitches onto the double pointed needles. Then once I started, I royally messed up and accidentally unraveled part of it and didn’t know how to fix it, so I pulled it all out and started again.

On my second try, I was doing a little better, but it was really difficult to handle the four needles, and I kept messing up when I had to switch to the next needle, so I decided to buy a circular needle and transfer my work onto it. I figured it may be easier and it totally was. I started knitting faster and didn’t have to stop as much. Here is a photo of my progress so far.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!!!

I just downloaded a new app for my iPhone called Instagram, above are four shots of our jack ‘o lantern from it.

Not a lot of treat or treaters this year. Maybe because the World Series is on and the Giants are winning 4-0… So far we have only gotten 14 kids at our door, but several of them posed with our jack ‘o lantern to take pictures :)

Non-spicy Curry Recipes?

I want to cook a Curry dish, but my Mom can’t eat spicy foods. Is there such a thing as non-spicy Curry (since I’ve only seen Curry that is spicy)?

Anyone have any recipes?

MacBook Hard Drive Replacement…

I have a spare 500GB SATA hard drive that I’m not using, so I decided to replace the 250GB internal hard drive. I bought the 500GB hard drive a while back to try to fix my old Mac mini, but I never got it to work again, so I gave up.

For reference, I’m using the article “Simple Hard Drive Cloning/Backup with Carbon Copy Cloner” for step by step directions:

First step was to get a 2.5″ Hard Drive Enclosure so I can clone my existing MacBook internal hard drive to the new one. I got a cheap Vantec NexStar TX 2.5-Inch SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure from Amazon for under $10. Once I got this in the mail. I installed the new 500GB drive into it, plugged it into my MacBook and formatted it.

Next, I download the Carbon Copy Cloner app to clone my existing drive onto the new one.

After more than 3 hours of copying files over, I shut down the MacBook, opened the back panel and unscrewed the internal hard drive. I then swtiched it with the new drive… powered it on… and it booted up with everything pretty much the same. The only big difference was that I have way more hard drive space.

Now, I’ll keep the original hard drive (in the USB hard drive enclosure) for a couple months, just in case something goes wrong with the new drive.
