PlantCam Working + Yojimbo + Avatar 3D

Tuesday, January 5, 2009

I brought my PlantCam to work to see if I can get it to work properly because I had trouble with it before Christmas and just haven’t had the time to fiz/play around with it. Yojimbo SushiOne of my coworkers suggested using a different SD card and low and behold… it worked… so I did a couple of test time-lapse photos of the office and street outside and it totally worked. I need to find a process to make nice fades between the shots. They seem to play smoothly on my Mac, but once I upload them to Flicker, they don’t fade and just switch photos, like a slide show.

After work, my friends Darwin, Janet and AJ treated my out for a birthday dinner at Yojimbo Sushi. YUMM!!!… We ordered a lot but I guess Darwin was really hungry… hehe

When we finished, Darwin and I drove over to AMC Bay Street 16 in Emeryville to try to catch the 9pm showing of Avatar 3D… Despite nodding off at the first 10 minutes of so (I was really tired and sleepy and just eat tons for food, hehe)… I really really loved the movie!!!… Once they got to the evening scenes with the forrest radiating with so much color lights… I stayed up. The main character was also cute (which is always a plus :)… I think this has to be one of my favorites movies… If you have the chance to see it in 3D, do so!!!

Pretty Low KeyedBirthday

Today was my birthday and my Mom woke me up to tell me that we are having lunch at Golden City Buffet, so I got ready while she called up my niece and my brother’s family to join us. So there was about a dozen of us there. I ate way too much—the danger of buffet–hehe…

Afterwards my Mom, Sister-in-law, couple of my nephews and I walked over to the discount store a few doors by. It was nice to see my Mom and Sister-in-law send some time together. As they slllloooowwwwly walked down the isle and looked at everything, they chatted about home stuff and tips. They were taking a while, but I just endured it, since I didn’t want to break their time together up.

No big plans or parties… In the evening, I just hung out at home, watching movies, responding to birthday greetings from Facebook, and napped. It was a pretty low keyed birthday, but I enjoyed it :)

Slept In + Garden Check + Sherlock Holmes…

The day seems to just zip by… I woke up late cuz I slept really really late (or shoudl I say early)… then had some brunch… then went out to the the back garden to check up on everything and take photos. (More about the garden in the next entry).

Afterwards, I drove over to Darwin’s and we first went to Ross to find an area rug for his living room.

We then went to The Cerrito Theater to watch Sherlock Holmes, which I didn’t think I would like but I did… The theater has sofas and tables so you can eat as if you were in a cafe while watching a movie… which was really cool, but we order way to much food…

New Years Eve/New Years Day…

New Years Eve/New Years has always been low keyed for me since I’ve moved back to Vallejo. I haven’t really gone out, because I just wanted to stay home and keep my Mom company. Many years, it’s just been Me, my Mom and my Brother here at home when the ball drops.

This year my nephew JR stayed home, so there were four of us at home. Then my Auntie called and said she, my other Auntie, Uncle and Grandma were coming… so there were 8 of us here.

At Midnight, I started texting and messaging friends and family Happy New Year. Then we had some traditional New Years food, like Arroz Caldo (Rice Porridge with Chicken), Fried Tofu, Sago (Tapioca Pearl Drink), Palitow (Filipino dessert) and some other Filipino foods.

Outside LightsAfter getting stuffed, I worked on posting some Christmas Eve photos on Flickr. I still have to edit and post Christmas Day photos…

I got up about 11 something AM, and drove to Oakland to meet with my friends Howard, Bill, (their new baby) Chloe and Lily… for some brunch. We went over the 4th street in Berkeley and ate at this cafe place (I can’t remember the name)… But I had a great Creole Omelet with Potatoes…

Afterwards, we just strolled through the stores on 4th street, but many were closed for New Years Day. Our next stop was the big Target in Albany… which was good, because it reminded me of some small storage ottomans that were on sale for $15. I wanted to get two for my room to triple as (1) color, (2) storage and (3) additional seating. Luckily, I got the last two lime green ones that I wanted.

We then returned to H & B’s condo and hung out, played with Chloe and watch some TV.

Later in the evening we ate out for dinner. Initially we were going to Sushi House, but there was a massive line, so we went to China Gourmet instead. Afterwards, we dropped Lily off at BART and I dropped Howard back to his condo and headed for home.

Before, I went to bed, I watched a movie on NetFlix online called “Dim Sum: A LIttle Bit of Hearth” which I actually liked a lot because I could relate to the Chinese daughter in the movie, who was the youngest and lived with her mother because she didn’t want her mother to be alone after her father died.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It’s that time for the year again, when we make our New Years Resolutions and try to start anew… Ads in the paper are filled with exercise equipment, storage and organizing boxes.

I heard from somewhere (I don’t remember where though) that however you entered the new year will be a reflection of the following year to come. I think that is how some traditions/superstitions came about like: having a pocketful of coins and/or a wallet-ful of bills will bring you wealth; 12 or 13 different round fruits will bring you prosperity. I also had this notion that things should be clean and tidy, all clothes washed, etc…

Well, if that was the case… I’m in trouble!… Why?…

(1) It’s 7am right now and I can’t get to sleep, due me screwed up sleeping schedule from the holidays and getting sick after Christmas. How am I ever gonna get up on time for work come Monday morning?

(2) My room is a pig sty :( I wanted to reconfigure my shelves and reorganized my room during my long holiday break… but I haven’t gotten around to it. Grrrrr!

(3) I also wanted to work on the garden and fix things up during my long holiday break, but I haven’t done that either.

(4) I brought a little bit of work home to do, since the week after our break will be a killer… well, I haven’t started on that…

(5) My lovelife… well… I don’t want to get into that now…

Anyways, I need to get off my lazy butt and get things done!

With all that said, I’m still optimistic. I still think 2010 will be a good year… I just need a kick start…

On a good note, I started one of my New Years Resolution early. Every New Year I’ve said I will try to stop smoking… well, I finally did starting on Oct 17, 2009!…

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!
